Half of the candidates have cleared the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination this year, announced the Karakoram International University here on Monday. “The overall success rate remained 50.68% this year, as against 47% last year,” said Karim Dad, the controller exams. In Sciences group, Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain from Danyore got the first position by obtaining 921 out of 1,050 marks, while Hussain Khadim and Sunaina Mir got the second and third positions respectively.
In Humanities group, Imtiaz Ali got the first position by bagging 749 marks, while Komail Abbas and Sundas Saba got the second and third positions respectively. A total of 17,246 candidates appeared in the exam, of which 8,740 proved successful. The successful candidates comprise 3,551 girls and 5,189 boys.
The success rate in Gilgit district was 45.32%, Skardu district 51%, Diamer district 70 per cent, Hunza-Nagar district 50%, district Ghizer 43, and district Ghanche 63%. Cases of using unfair means were registered against 742 students, said the source.
