Drug charges: Suspect jumps into well to avoid arrest

HARIPUR: An alleged drug peddler got critically injured after jumping into a well to avoid arrest during a police raid, police and eyewitnesses said on Sunday. On a tip-off, ASI Khalid Rehman conducted a raid at the house of Yasir of Khajooran Mohalla, Darvesh on charges of drug selling. However, the accused managed to escape with an envelope containing some drugs. The police followed him before he jumped into an open well in the village. The accused was later shifted to Women and Children Hospital from where he was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad, where his condition is reported to be critical. Rehman claimed that the accused was a wanted criminal and had been jailed many times on the same charges.
