Overflowing streams: City govt ‘prepared to cope with flood-like situation’

RAWALPINDI: City District Government Rawalpindi is fully prepared to deal with a possible flood and has completed all arrangements to help the affected people, Municipal Services Executive District Officer (EDO) Imtiaz Ahmed Malik said on Saturday.

The EDO visited low-lying areas and directed the sanitary staff to perform their duties honestly. He also visited emergency flood centres Malik asked the concerned staff to remain vigilant. The EDO urged residents to cooperate with the municipal staff and asked them not to throw garbage in the streets and nullahs. Nullah Leh has wrecked havoc on people living close to its banks, a number of whom lost their lives and faced huge financial losses in floods in the past.
