Mishandled explosives: Man hurt as bomb explodes in pocket

The motorcycle was mangled in the blast, police sources said.

QUETTA: Two men were injured on Friday night when a homemade bomb in one of their pockets went off just as they were travelling on McChongey Road.

The two men were riding on a motorcycle and one of them was carrying a one-pound explosive device in his trousers pocket which exploded, injuring the two, one of them critically. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital, where they were identified as Shujaat and Qasim. The motorcycle was mangled in the blast, police sources said. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, six people, including two policemen, were injured when unidentified men on a motorbike lobbed a grenade on a CID police vehicle at Seerat Chowk in the industrial town of Hub on Friday night. In another incident, one person was killed and a passer-by wounded in firing in the Mand area of Kech district.
