Road block: Demonstration ends after murder FIRs registered

Teenager, his uncle, killed in two incidents in three days.

Dozens of relatives of a teenager, shot and killed allegedly by men of a rival family, ended their protest on Faisalabad-Satiana Road on Friday after two murder cases were registered against four men.


The FIRs accuse Waseem Ahmed, Haider Ahmed, and Muhammad Ashfaq and Muhammad Nawaz of killing Muhammad Yaseen, 16, and Muhammad Iftikhar, both residents of Chak 37-GB, on Friday and Tuesday, respectively.

A protester said the suspects’ family were residents of the same village. They said the two families had a land dispute.

SP (Jaranwala) Nasir Sial also ordered an inquiry against Station House Officer Jahangir Khan on a complaint filed by Muhammad Ataullah, father of deceased Yaseen. He alleged that the SHO had been turning down their application for registration of an FIR in his brother Iftikhar’s killing since Tuesday. He said after the SHO had refused to register an FIR in his son’s killing as well he and his family were left with no option but to protest on the street on Friday. SHO Jahangir Khan declined comment.

Child run over by tractor

In another incident in the city, a minor girl was run over by a tractor-trolley near her house in Gojra police precincts.

The police identified the deceased as Dania, 10.

They said the child was playing near home in Chak 94-JB when she was run over by a speeding tractor-trolley. She died on the spot. The driver managed to escape from the scene. APP
