Police told to recover and produce missing boy on Aug 15

SHC tells DIG Sukkur to give investigations to some ‘honest’ officer.

KARACHI: A division bench of the Sindh High Court on Thursday ordered the police officials of Naushero Feroz to recover and produce a 16-year-old boy, Imran Jokhiyo, on August 15.

A number of high ranking police officers, including DIG Sukkur range, appeared before the court in the case on Thursday. The bench, comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Salahuddin Panwhar, after hearing counsel for petitioner, mother of the missing boy, and state adjourned the further hearing while ordering DIG Sukkur to appoint some honest officer of SP rank to investigate and find whereabouts of the missing boy.

The bench had earlier disposed of a petition after another DIG submitted a report to the high court saying that a number of police officials have been suspended and are behind the bar in the case. According to police investigation, missing boy was intercepted by two police constables who snatched cash from him. Imran was later taken away by the policemen and went missing.

The senior investigator also found that a body resembling to that of Imran was found at regulator of a water distributory. The body was fetched out an uncle of the missing boy was called who was, however, unable to identify the same after which the police official instead of burying the body dumped it again in the canal so that it passes into the jurisdiction of another police station. The vital clues were destroyed in the process.

The police investigator ordered registration of a murder case against police officials for violating procedure and inefficiency. The mother of Imran in her petition questions the registration of murder case on ground that real culprits who kidnapped his son would benefit if the police officials are tried under murder charges.

Ignoring the wailing mother who convincingly believes that her son is still alive and in illegal custody of police, the bench once again asked DIG Sukkur to an make efforts to recover Imran Jokhiyo.
