Cricket: No India-Pakistan matches in Mumbai

KARACHI: Pakistan’s proposed tour of India later this year will comprise three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20s from December 24 to January 5, according to the scheduled sent to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by its Indian counterparts.

The tour will start with the two Twenty20s followed by the ODIs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed matches in New Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Chennai with Mumbai not chosen as venue with fear of a backlash because of the 2008 attacks. According to the PCB officials, the board, after consultation with Misbahul Haq and Mohammad Hafeez, will send a reply to the BCCI shortly.

The official also confirmed that the PCB will send its delegation to India ahead of the tour to assess the security situation as well as the arrangements at the venues.

Re at the phrase "Beggars can't be choosers" :- Look inside before looking out. India (and especially Mumbai) is a country full of "beggars" - of the footpath variety I must add (pun intended) !

Don't kid yourselves: India definitely is not interested in playing cricket with you -- nor is the rest of the cricket world. Who gave you that illusion that the rest of the world will openly embrace your country which is blacklisted for a variety of reasons, primarily, though for terrorism and insecure environment, unethical behaviour of your cricketers and the PCB, rogue-nation conduct by providing safe haven to killers of innocent people, etc. etc. It's a long list and I am sure you will feel exasperated reading it. Hope you will quietly withdraw -- if for nothing than self-respect and SHAME. The problem is that you do not have the courage to be honest and acknowledge that terrorism stems from Pakistan which is a crucible for religious extremism. In another 10 years, if things move at the way they are, you will fracture yourselves into several diffierent small countries, each hostile to the other. Bangladeshis say they are the happiest people after having broken away from you. Are they not a shining example of what is wrong with you guys?

Prak | 12 years ago | Reply @Jahanzeb Zafar- Your hahaas are the reason why Pakistan has become the centre of worldwide terror and the reason why Pakistanis are treated with suspicion and contempt everywhere.Yes India has border security issues but that is because legions of animals from your country to take innocent lives through terror in other nations. @complex-Yes BalThakre is an extremist, but an India Pakistan match in Mumbai is like a US-Taliban match at Ground Zero, especially when your nation has shown zero interest in investigating or prosecuting the Mumbai attacks plotted and executed from your country,. ET- I would be grateful if you could publish this comment, even if it is a little harsh. I does sum up a number of Indian opinions.

But I don't want to because I don't want to humiliate all my Indian friends by generalizing all and weighing all of you in a single machine. You can't blame every one of us and can't label all of us as terrorist. If you have even a modicum of humanity and circumspection then you would not have hurled these kind of diatribes against all Pakistanis. I don't want to be sound like apologetic and if this is your attitude towards revival of Indo-pak cricket then it is better that this tour will never be materialize. We are better off playing cricket with other countries except India. If you will keep rubbing your wounds and revitalizing those at the critical juncture then this will be of no good for both of these countries. Better not generalize thing and think before writing.

If you honestly think that a bunch of guys can just sail into your country undetected, rent boats and than rent taxi cabs and hold your biggest city hostage for 3 days than there is something seriously wrong with your supposedly strong army ... focus your attention on fixing that first .. hahahha in any case cricket should not be mixed with politics and people like you is what both the corrupt politicians and terrorists prey on. Think rationally my friends ....

December is far, far away, and so many things can happen in these months. Remember the number of non-state actors in on the increase in your country (especially after the jail break).

I am sure you have heard that before -- not only from Indians but also from the rest of the cricketing world. The PCB is not coming to check the "security situation" -- they are merely coming to check if they can pick up some crumbs from under the table before the series begins. Over 90% of Indians (that's nearly a billion population!!!) does not want to have any cricketing ties with a country that harbours terrorists and are responible for death of defenceless and innocent people (including small children) in the Mumbai carnage. You can keep denying this but the truth is the truth. It comes before you every morning you see yourselves in the mirror. Can you live with that conscience?

The official also confirmed that the PCB will send its delegation to India ahead of the tour to assess the security situation as well as the arrangements at the venues. so, if the security situation is negative and if there is bomb blast , pakistan will pull back from the series?.If PCB have guts, Pakistan should ask their Indian counter part to play in Mumbai. pakistan should accept blindly any situation in India, other wise if they raise any concerns they can sit at home.So the above said statement makes no value.Above all pakistanis are not welcomed in India.
