MULTAN: The Punjab government is receiving applications from young farmers to provide 10,000 tractors at subsidised rates under its Green Tractors Scheme, a spokesman said on Wednesday. Applications forms can be filed with the office of the assistant commissioner concerned till August 22. The government is offering a Rs200,000 subsidy on each tractor. The tractors will be distributed on the basis of the population. However, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Jhang and Bhakkar divisions have been allocated 10 per cent additional quota, the spokesman said. He said tractors would be provided through a draw from amongst eligible applicants. Farmers from 18-35 years old are eligible for the facility. The applicant’s land holding in the tehsil must not exceed 2.5 acres, while their total land holding across the country should not be more than 25 acres of canal-irrigated land or 50 acres of rain-fed land, he said. Application forms are free and can be downloaded from the website: www.agripunjab.gov.pk
