Revenue official’s bail plea rejected

Raiding team was directed to arrest other Revenue Department clerks accused in matter and present them in the court.

SARGODHA:

An Anti-Corruption Court on Saturday rejected application for bail filed by a revenue official arrested, along with two other men, for illegal transfer of government land in his name.

Revenue official Ahmed Sher, Muhammad Iqbal and Usman Saeed were arrested two weeks ago in a raid by special judicial magistrate Ahsanul Haq and Anti-Corruption Establishment Circle Officer Azeem Waraich. The three men are accused of illegally occupying a three-kanal residential plot in Mohammadi Colony. The plot was originally owned by the Revenue Department.

The report submitted in the court by the raiding team stated that the three men had transferred the plot in their name on a fake property deed.

The raiding team was directed to arrest other Revenue Department clerks accused in the matter and present them in the court.

Meanwhile, the Anjuman-e-Patwariyan and All Pakistan Clerks Association’s Sargodha chapter (Revenue Department) continued their strike in protest against Ahmed Sher’s arrest on the ninth day on Saturday.

The association has boycotted all official work, including preparation of property deeds, causing severe inconvenience to people visiting the Revenue Department office for the purpose.

Encroachments removed

In Joharabad, encroachments were removed on a seven-acre plot of land in 53 MB village in an operation on Saturday.

The operation was carried out by Khushab assistant commissioner Syed Ameer Hussain Shah on a complaint received from the residents of the area. In his report to  the DCO, the assistant commissioner said a lumberdar had apparently been supporting the encroachers.
