Imran Khan awarded honorary fellowship by Royal College of Physicians
The fellowship has been awarded for his contribution through the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.
The RCPE is a professional membership organisation with a membership of over 10,000 “fellows” in 91 countries.
Imran Khan founded Shaukat Khanum on December 29, 1994.
The inspiration for the hospital and research centre came after the death of his mother, Mrs Shaukat Khanum, due to cancer.
The trust uses donations to help patients with cancer through the application of modern methods of curative and palliative therapy free of cost.

As a Pakistani who lived in Australia in the 1990s (before we became associated with terrorism), I cannot tell you how good it felt when every time I introduced myself and where I came from, the first thing that most Aussies said is "Imran Khan" since that is how they knew Pakistan. The man is a great ambassador for Pakistan and a tremendous, in fact, the only source of respect for millions of expatriate Pakistanis. I wish him the best, always!
Say what you will but Imran is a class apart. Those who still can't see the difference between him and the rest of our sordid politicians, I can only say: Wake up, don't waste your vote this time by giving the same lot another chance. It is time to give the Kaptaan a chance. Has he failed us yet?
Congratulations Kaptaan! Stick to what you are good at, the charity work. You will be wasting yourself and wasting Pakistan's any chance of revival by being in Pakistani politics as a front for fundamentalists!

That's the system we are cursed with, where a man -- like Imran -- with an unimpeachable integrity and an outstanding record of public service is damn-near unelectable. Imagine, for a moment, what a formidable presidential candidate Imran would have made in the U.S. He would have made his opponents quake in their boots. Here his opponents -- none of whom can hold a torch to him in terms of character and delivery -- will run rings around him come election time. I am truly dejected.

Here he goes again showing he belongs in a different class of politician. IK should be prevailed upon to donate this fellowship to President Zardari who, according to his official biography, "studied business" in London at a university that has since gone missing. IK already has a degree from Oxford but it will be a great help to the President in padding out his CV.

It is a great honor for Imran Khan and the country, we need some good news beside what is happening inside and outside the country. I would very much like to know if any other politician in Pakistan has built or supported by their own resources any hospitals,schools, colleges or any other institution which could benefit the nation. All I hear is they amass wealth by illegal, and fraudulent ways and stash it in foreign banks like Zardari and BB's accounts in the Swiss Banks. IK has already proven to be an honest person and it is time for Pakistanis to bring in some one who will not steal their money or get involve in all sorts of corruption.

Congratulations Dr. Khan! :) And its such a pity to see that his services in the form of SKMCH&RC are hailed as a success story internationally, but unfortunately are unseen by our College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.. Maybe its just because the college authorities are too much politically influenced and cant afford to lose their position by giving an Honourary Fellowship to a person of his calibre.

Start of S.K. Hospital was a great achievement but after 25 years since its inception, this project proves that Imran Khan lacks in organizational, managerial and administrative skills. Many people including Imran Khan has built their careers on this project but they haven't made it sustainable.

Imran Khan, you are the best.
Imran has politicized the Shaukat Khanum Hospital by building his political career on the success of the project. He should immediately remove himself from the board of directors of the hospital if he wants to continue his political adventures. I know a few people who are no longer willing to donate their Zakat to the hospital because of the political mileage Imran derives out of it.
He is the only hope we have left now in the country. We need to think at our national interest now, rather then political, religious or any other sort of. When country flourishes, we all enjoy what we do and practice how we like.

If Imran will stick to Philanthropy rather than Politics then it is better for him as in Politics he is Obseesed with "Oooo Mian Sahib " while in Philanthropy he is doing a good job. Being a doctor, I know that Royal college of physcians is a very prestigious institution, and they don't dole out their honorary fellowships like some other institutions.It shows how IK has earned respect and recognition through his hard woek and dedication. He will do the same for our country when elected.

We are so happy that there is at least one Pakistani leader who brings Pakistan respect and who is not globally famous (read notorious) for Corruption, Money-Laundering, Swiss Accounts and Percentages etc. p.s: Its an eye-opener for those "Royal Kids" (PML-N knows 'em well :P) who called Imran Khan a "beggar".
