QUETTA:

A passerby was injured in a cracker blast that took place near Sadiq Shaheed Football ground on McChongi Road in the provincial capital on Friday.

The bomb was planted in a tin box, which was fitted near the storm water drain in McChongi, said City Police Station Officer Mohammad Ahmed. Police and Frontier Corps personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to preserve evidence. The injured was shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. He was identified as Mohammad Niaz. “The passerby received injures on his leg,” said Ahmed. He also added that the bomb was a home-made concoction.
