A sub-committee of the Cabinet on Thursday reiterated the government’s commitment to support the water fuel kit project to tackle energy crisis in the country.
The committee strongly encouraged the project, as the project designer presented a practical demonstration of a car operating on a water fuelling system. The committee members appreciated the idea of an engineer Waqar Ahmad in introducing the water fuel system for automobiles.
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, talking to the media after witnessing the demonstration, assured that the government would provide support to the Ministry of Science and Technology for development of the system. He asked the ministry and the Pakistan Engineering Council to float the feasibility of the project as soon as possible. The system enables the automobiles to consume water to function instead of combusting petrol or compressed natural gas (CNG).
Replying to a question, the minister maintained that the engineer will be provided full security and the idea will be patented to ensure security. The minister said that the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh considered the project to be of great value for the crisis-hit country.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali, also present on the occasion said that the idea could be a tremendous step in drafting a counterstrategy for the prevailing energy crisis. “We are making an effort to complete all the remaining work by August 14 as we want to gift this project to the nation on the Pakistan Day,” he said adding that in the next two weeks all ground tests and attached experiments will be completed.
It is interesting to note that the water fuelling system is simple in its technical nature in which the `hydrogen bonding’ present in distilled water will be an acting agent and the hydrogen gas propels the engine. Moreover, the whole system will considerably be cheaper than that of the present fuelling systems of CNG and petroleum. Pakistan may be able to export the system if the country is able to spend enough capital to perfect the technology.

@Tavish: No such engines are available so please stop lying.
i am not a science student but can simply tell from common sense that this kind of projects are also presented by people all over the world also in paksitan but nobody takes any interest before. but this time our political elite and scientists have gone to the limits.we see and listen also that hakeem invented the cure of diabetese and other all dangerius diseases?where we r living?if this one possible then y american and other nations are investing billions of dollars on the research and still they r working.this Water kit oh my God what happens to our people.how they even believe. God gave this nation a little sense.Y we r ready to believe on the happenings of miracles.not believe on "ilm"(education/science). Umeed is good but this one is jihalat.
@Hasan: Making a 4th gen fighter jet is significantly more complicated than the water car, videos of which are found on youtube for any layman to use. Stanley Meyer already did it and was killed by energy cartels.
Dear all, I think we should thank Agha for this marvellous invention. When we used to study in our madarassa, we were told that water has the max energy and now we have someone who is harnessing this energy and driving cars. Inshallah, very soon we should be driving tanks on water and after that liberating kashmir. We will give our mujahids water bombs which will have so much energy that the Indians will have to run when they see our holy warriors armed only with water bottles and imagine if our army comes loaded with i litre water bottles, kashmir shall become ours and so will all the opressed kashmiri women be and then we will set sail on our water bottles to invade the US of A. Very soon we will be the only super power. So now atleast China should give us some dollars and match the US of A or we can get very angry and as you all know an angry mujahid with a water bottle can be very dangerous caricature. So all you people please heed the coming wrath of allah which will be delivered courtesy us (The pakistanis mujahid warrior) the pure followers.. There fore start donating generously if you want to stay in our good books.....
"Pakistan may be able to export the system if the country is able to spend enough capital to perfect the technology."...and than the alarm rang and his dream ended. Looks like its an article written as a joke for April fool. Pakistan really need sto wake up and come back from the dreamland. No body can fool nature, but when we start living in a delusion we only fool our selves.
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah has rightly agreed to provide full support to Engineer Waqar Ahmad in developing and introducing the revolutionary water fuel system for automobiles. . My only fear is that the “Oil Majors” as well as the Oil Sheiks will try their best to destroy Engineer Waqar Ahmed with his invention as with Automobiles running on water will drastically reduce the need of Oil and will reduce the Oil Sheikhs to penury. . Engineer Waqar Ahmed should guard himself against the “Oil Majors’” the Oil Sheikh. . Best of Luck Engineer Waqar Ahmed as he is the Hope of over 1.5 Billion People of South Asia. . Cheers
although its against the present law of physics and energy but still i will prefer to pass no comment on this initial stage. Anyway Best Wishes Sir.
It's ok to see these politicians get fooled by this idea because they have not studied science and engineering, but what is wrong with the Pakistan Science Foundation and all these scientists who are supporting this wild claim. I am seriously disturbed by reaction of these people. This claim violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics present in all undergraduate textbooks. If these scientists are not questioning this I think they need to go back and revise their fundamentals. The guy is making a Perpetual Motion Machine for GOD sake !! Violating this law is tantamount to committing blasphemy in the field of Thermodynamics. History is full of people who have made this claim and every time they have been proven wrong. The reaction by these learned people clearly tell us the flaws in our education system where students are not made to understand the fundamental principles that govern the universe.
after CNG loadshedding as a result of gas resource mis-management, be ready for water loadshedding now... oh wait, do we have enough water?? oops.. may be not but hey who cares... let the next government/generation deal with it...
@S.H: law of thermodynamics, energy cannot be created or destroyed. the energy required to separate the water molecule will be greater or equal the energy realized by the oxidation of hydrogen, with some energy being released as heat. water is a fully oxidized product. im sorry but you just cant circumvent the facts. i am appalled by the quality of questioning by the other "scientists" on the show. the great thing about science is the quality of rigorous questioning which was completely absent.
there is no water to drink in many areas in Pakistan and now you wana use it to for fuel that means poor will die without water.
the Link to the program where Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand, Dr. Pervez and Dr. Gul Faraz Ahmed jointly discussed this idea with the same engineer. http://www.zemtv.com/2012/07/17/kyun-cars-will-run-on-water-now-pakistani-engineer-challenge-17th-july-2012/
@I like it @Gogi Machhera: I had similar opinion as yours, but then in a program this guy along with Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand, Dr. Gul Faraz Ahmed and Dr. Pervez, answered to some of the important questions. However particularly the one you guys have raised, he says that's the key idea which will be patented. Moreover the water which will be consumed will be distilled water (Not mineral water or plain water) which will cost approximately Rs. 10/Litre, but still its far cheaper. But I am of the opinion that he should rather first patent his technology and then the Government should start working on this with private/public partnership within the country.
ET and other news orgs. need to hire a scientifically literate journalist who can approach and demystify these 'technologies' with proper skepticism.
even if this is all feasible and true. we are already a water scarce country for irrigation and drinking, tomorrow we will be running cars on water. what will be the state of this country..??
@i like it: "bunch of idiots" says it all. Pakistanis are desperately looking for that savior...political, leadership, technology, or whatever kind, to come from heaven and provide deliverance by some magic. They have never understood that there is no substitute to hard and sustained work...
he energy consumed in electrolysis of water to form hydrogen and oxygen would be greater than the energy produced by the combustion of formed hydrogen. What is the point of running the engine by hydrogen when same amount of petrol or diesel is being consumed to do electrolysis of water? As a nation we are a bunch of idiots, getting overly excited by a failed idea. This also shamelessly exposes the level of our scientific understanding, and our dumb 'scientists' are no exception.
@Tavish:
That's weird...4th generation jet fighters are all over the world as well, and yet you guys still can't seem to make one even with foreign assistance. LOL and you came here to tell us about national embarrassment?!
Hasan
If there's even a flicker of credibility to this report, it sounds like a phenomenal breakthrough. Mr Ahmad, the nation turns its lonely eyes to you...
Hasan
You guys just love to embarrass yourselves, Water fuel cell Engines are all over the world, for several decades and the engines are already made in several countries , the patenting is long done..nubs. LOL
