Addressing the media after a meeting between PML-Q leaders and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Pervaiz Elahi was answering a question posed by journalists regarding claims that PML-N was going to Sindh and had, to an extent, broken down the local leadership.
Elahi reiterated that both parties remained united in Sindh, adding that talks for seat readjustments were underway.
Qaim Ali Shah, answering queries on whether the alliance faced any danger in the form of PML-N or not, said, “We don’t overestimate ourselves, but we don’t underestimate ourselves either.”
He added that the politics of the party and the leadership were the reason why Nawaz Sharif went to places in Sindh where one “need not go”.
“He has approached non-entity people and those who criticised him a lot, the nationalists, asking them to join him,” he said, adding that these people had never even won a single seat.
“He is trying but, thanks to God, he still does not have a seat, even in the assembly, and none of our party members have joined him,” said the Sindh chief minister.
He said that Nawaz was approaching people “who had left his party earlier, who have cases registered against them and those who have always been disagreeing with us since the beginning like Mumtaz Bhutto”.
On PML-N making alliances with nationalists, Shah said that some of them totally disagree with the constitution, and these were the people Nawaz Sharif was recruiting.
Refusing to comment on PPP’s cases in the courts, Shah said that it was a matter of the federal government and since these matters were sub-judice, they should not be commented on but said that the Sindh government was supportive of the party.
Shah said that talks with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were underway and progress had been made on issues that were not being sorted out earlier. “We hope to reach an understanding soon,” he said.
Answering questions related to local body elections, Shah said that after general elections, which would take place in seven to eight months, the elected governments would hold local body elections as per the constitution.

@Mohd Butt:
In real democracies politics is run on Charity (also known as fund raising). It is a problem when you INVEST your own money in a campaign. Because then you want a return on that investment. Pakistanis who believe that they can bring a change with their past voting practices are really misguided. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I do not doubt your intentions and love for Pakistan, but if one method (electing current parties) and military rule did not work try a different approach. Unless you think that Pakistan is perfect, because if there is nothing wrong then we do not have to change anything.
@U: IK had a lost identity, 17 years, don't know what to do, ha he now founded his identify, the wife he claimed embraced Islam, had not, children he have are under guidance of whom, raising under which religion, and in England, he himself said on the capital talk, if he was not in politics he will not live in pakistan, and how he could be my leader of change in Pakistan? Bring your kinds in Pakistan live like us, and stop politics on charity, the excellent examples you gave on which he fits in? Non of them, Your wish is admirable but not your action, he is simply not what he make you believe. And I fee sorry that so many nice young, energetic wishful Pakistani are misguided. Love you all.
@Mohd Butt:
You have to change input in order to get a different output. If your VISION is same output as what we have right now. Go for it. Vote same way and elect same people, and expect same state of Pakistan as what we have now. Brazil elected a former shoe shine boy, India and Iran elected former teachers, because their records were clean, not because they had a lot of experience in politics. De Silva of Brazil left an ordinary man not a billionaire like Sharifs and Zardari after their terms and same is about to happen with Singh and Ahmadinejad. They are about to leave office soon with almost same money as they came in office with. In my VISION it is time we elect people who have real ordinary professions and ones who do not take politics a profession ie means to make money.
@U: It was indian, international betting syndicates which made Pakistan win otherwise they will lose billions, IK know that well, otherwise check on Internet. Hospital, by people's money, there are more than thousand hospitals made by private funds not by charity funds. To little to claim on national scale, unless this is your vision.
@Mohd Butt:
Based on IK's track record he delivered 2 projects he took earlier. World Cup and State of art Cancer Hospital.Of course both took s while to deliver. He was novice cricketer once and also before his hospital project he did not have any experience in it either. We all start somewhere, no one is born an expert. This is biggest project of all now. Based on his record my money is on him.
@sick of this nonsense: 17 years when IK came into politic made party, never had enough to make full party organization, never had internal election, never participated in general election, nor work experience, good only in collecting charity otherwise begging,, but will sweep in next general election, what grate day dreamers, blind and fool both qualities to gather, God bless them all, and IK raise his children in Pakistan. Ameen
@Pakistan politics: You mean Para likha Punjab!
@Pakistan For Life: come on yar, their period was full of corruption and nepotism. What Pakistan is facing today, it was cultivated by Chaudaries during their tenure.
shame on these thugs chaudharies, for power and rule, they can do every thing. I can't forget their Elections speeches and their full of flattery speeches for Pervaiz Musharaf. They are hypocrites in true sense of word. Well done Mr. President for exposing these crooks of Gujrat
@sick of this nonsense:
just telling you this as neutral as well; bhutto was brain child of not one but two dictators.............sikander mirza and ayub khan. And we know very well why Sindh's vote is divided on ethnicity. All parties ruling in sindh want their votes to keep intact, come what may.....they exploit, generate mistrust and hatered amongst poor and ordinary people to get to power. This is the political reality of sind......which you may not find any where else in Pakistan......that extent.
Yes, I do agree with you that PTI or PMLN will not perform well in sind.
Ch brothers are much better than PML N, they have delivered in past, the problems we never become happy with any one, but its is on record Ch brother's did every thing they could do be it education, health construction
@Dawood Suleman: We remember PML (N) being the brain child of Zia ul Haq who is the most hated figure here. Good luck with winning any seat here. Come IK tsunami or so called lions from PML (N) Karachi is MQM and rest of SIndh is PPP. Just telling you this as a neutral.
Chaudhries have done a lot in there Tenure from 2003-2008 ! PMLN not even near to what Ch pervaiz delivered in his era
Ch. brothers are much better people and politicians as compared to dual natured Nawaz Sharif.
@Adnan Khawaja:
You can't place PTI's name with other parties. PTI is against all those parties which are currently in the assembly including the party which claims to be friendly the opposition (PML-N).
CS & PI are our teachers and gurus, they are teaching their nation a lesson, every one knows, what this lesson is. !!!
@Ghalib: And you forgot that Bhutto was a minister in the dictators regime as well. Bhutto was one of the first politicians to support dictatorship in Pakistan.
@Ejaz Noman: nawaz was with Gen Zia and Ch. Bros were with Gen Mush. Nawaz was with zardari and now Ch Bros are with zardari. what is difference? samething
All parties (PPP, MQM, ANP, Q League, PTI) are against PML(N). It is strange. It means that PML(N) is better than these parties who are ruling the country since many years and country is in miserable condition during their tenure. Despite opposition from all parties, PML(N) will win elections InshaAllah.
Ch. Sahib, dont worry. Let Nawaz Sharif do what he wants to do. You please take care of your party where there is no election-winning candidate. Due to present poor condition of your party, you are forced to shake hands with PPP. Both PPP and Q League are power-hungry parties. Your party is in power since 14 years (Musharraf era + PPP era). What have you done for country? Today everywhere there load shedding, ignorance, poverty, lawlessness in the country. You are equally responsible for the present condition of country. Insha Allah, public will do your accountability in coming elections. Allah bless Nawaz Sharif.
These Choudhary Brothers are failed and power hungry politicians. They can sale evry thing for power. They have no manifesto. They just need power. These people claimed in past that Musharraf would be elected in Uniform 10 times. How do they talk about democracy while selecting a dictator in uniform 10 times. Shame for such politicians. Nawaz Sharif is doing what he should do. Choudhary Brothers should think only about their own constituency which they will loose this time.
Well I am hopeful that this time Mr.Pervaiz Elahi will meet his fate......
Insha Allah PML(N) will perform quite better in Sindh. People of Sindh need change. They are fed up with politics of PPP and MQM. Politics on the name of Bhutto is being done by PPP since decades. But this time people of Sindh will not give votes on the name of Bhutto. They need change. I believe that Nawaz Sharif will perform much better.
