Assignments: Old PM advisers retained, new appointed

Two previous advisers had lost their posts after the disqualification of former PM Gilani for contempt of court.

GILGIT: The federal government on Thursday appointed a new adviser to the prime minister for Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) and retained the two previous advisers for the area. The two previous advisers are Attaullah Shahab and Mohammad Saleem, while the newly appointed adviser is Syed Afzal, official sources of the G-B Council told The Express Tribune. The decision was made in a meeting of senior government officials held here on Wednesday, the sources said. They added that the advisers will be administered oath in a couple of days in Islamabad. The two previous advisers had lost their posts after the disqualification of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for contempt of court. According to the Self Empowerment Order 2009, the advisers are chosen from amongst the members of G-B Council, which is chaired by the prime minister.
