ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Thursday threatened to attack Myanmar to avenge crimes against the Muslim Rohingya, unless Pakistan halts all relations with the government and shuts its embassy in Islamabad.

In a rare statement focused on the plight of Muslims abroad, the umbrella TTP group sought to present itself as a defender of Muslim men and women in Myanmar, saying “we will take revenge of your blood”.

Spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan demanded that the Pakistani government halt all relations with Myanmar and close down its embassy in Islamabad.

“Otherwise we will not only attack Burmese interests anywhere but will also attack the Pakistani fellows of Burma one by one,” he said in a statement.

The Myanmar embassy in Islamabad was not immediately reachable for comment.

The TTP frequently claims attacks on security forces in Pakistan but its ability to wage violence in countries further afield has been questioned.

But US officials say there is evidence the group was behind a failed 2010 attempt to bomb Times Square in New York, for which Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad was jailed for life.

TTP leader Hakimullah Mehsud has also been charged in the United States over the killings of seven CIA agents who died when a Jordanian al Qaeda double agent blew himself up at a US base in Afghanistan in December 2009.

Recent clashes in western Myanmar between Buddhist ethnic Rakhine and Muslim Rohingya have left dozens dead and tens of thousands homeless.

Last week, Amnesty International said hundreds of people, mostly men and boys, have been detained in sweeps of areas heavily populated by the Rohingya, with almost all held incommunicado and some ill-treated.

Most arrests appear to have been “arbitrary and discriminatory” and Amnesty said there were “credible reports” of abuses – including rape, destruction of property and unlawful killings – by both Rakhine Buddhists and the security forces.

Decades of discrimination have left the Rohingya stateless, and they are viewed by the United Nations as one of the world’s most persecuted minorities.

And who is going to punish Taliban for what they are doing to their own brethren in Pakistan. And media is to blame for making a hero out of a criminal.

I think Myanmar’s muslims may need defending ‘from’ the Taliban, just like an ordinary Pakistani does. If they are so concerned about Muslim’s welfare worldwide, then fight for democracy, fight againts corruption, fight for the right to good education in your own homeland, and not with bullets. That is true jihad.

After the Communist takeover in 1949, Mao Zedung set about dividing the Muslims into nationalities so they would identify with their ‘ethnic’ origin and not their ‘Muslim’ identity.

According to population statistics of 1936, the then Kuomingtang Republic of China had an estimated 48,104,240 Muslims. After the introduction of Mao’s policies, this number was reduced to ten million. No official Chinese explanation has ever been given for this apparent disappearance of around 38 million Muslims. The mass extermination and destruction of the Muslims of China pales before the much publicized plight of a handful of Tibetan monks or the democrats of Tiannaman Square.

Taliban should do just one favor that leave this world on its own fate. Muslims were and are much safer in absence of so called Taliban. Muslim world need modernization and education not any more militancy. This militancy has resulted 7.5 lacks military in Kashmirs and Americans arrival in Pakistan and Afghanistan, all triggered by the actions of militants. For God sake our media should avoid showing Taliban any heroes. They are more destructive than Atom Bombs.

It is funny how people readily accept and believe Taliban (TTP) rhetoric without actually probing the powers behind them.

These don’t have a charismatic, educated and worldly leader like Sheikh Nasrallah that can articulate a sophisticated agenda, political platform or political views. I seriously doubt these armed with their madrassa education, know where Myanmar is or who the Rohingyas are.

The conductor of this facade that leads the symphony hides behind the scenes and in the cacophony of all this noise creates space for the TTP as the defender of the Muslims of the world. If this is not the biggest joke I don’t know what is. Recommend

    @Rajendra Rana:

You have a good point there and persecution of Muslims in China is a fact. However I disagree with the extermination part of your comment.China only recognize non Han Chinese Muslims as a separate ethnicity. Han Muslims are in greater number than other Muslim ethnic groups in China, just that they are now counted as Han Chinese and not separately. China’s vice premier Hui Liangyu is a Muslim. Also your total number of 15 million Muslims in China sounds too low. There are about 10 m Hui (same ethnicity as the vice premiere) Muslims and 9 million Uighur (Turkic). Just these 2 groups make 18 million. Some other estimates put it somewhere between 25-50 million. It is impossible to verify actual number of Muslims within majority Han ethnicity. Han Chinese make 92% of China’s population.

Every killer in this world must be punished. Must be punished. For permanent peace, love, fraternity & brotherhood among all humans of the world adopt 1 child policy in the whole world particularly 3rd world for at least 30 years. It will become a paradise, no passport, no visa, world will be one. By adopting 1 child policy China where 120 million had died due to extreme poverty & conflicts, 70 m killed in the so called revolution 1949-60, 48 m in famine 1959-65 but now becoming part of first world just in 30 years. Very soon China will be one of the most transparent democracies of the world. In China value of human life will be as high as that of in Western Europe. Very soon Death Penalty will be abolished in China. China will be more liberal than any first world country. Let Congo, Sudan, Niger, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Burma, Ethiopia, Somalia all follow China and become part of first world in 30 years.
All humans are alike, all are equal, all children are same, they are like flowers, they pay price of the mistakes and wrong decisions of their parents. Please do not punish children & non combating men & women. Doing so is the most heinous crime against humanity.

If you love humanity and mankind, save it, save it by adopting 1 child policy. All those who love humanity & mankind must read history of mankind on this earth planet and make effort to make this world a better place for our children and children of our children.

Whenever someone hurts Islam ans Muslims, more people convert to Islam. It’s a fact that one day Islam will expand everywhere in the world one day. It’s Allah ‘s promise. I’m not very happy that more people have to die to save the Burmese Muslims… But someone has to do something after all.

how can pakistan be mad when they killed millions of Bangladeshi during 1971. Now they are crying crocodile tears over these rohingyas. You think pakistani are not racist against these rohingyas? They hate them, if rohingya went to pakistan they would be getting oppressed by their fellow muslims. The taliban just want to start something. I am by no means defending Burma’s actions I am from burma and I am ashamed that this tragedy is occuring.
