Cricket: Ali’s blitz seals Qasmi’s win

Propelled Qasmi CC to a 11-run victory against Northern Gymkhana.

KARACHI: Ashraf Ali’s blistering half-century laced with 10 sixes propelled Qasmi CC to a 11-run victory against Northern Gymkhana in their 17th Dr MA Shah Night Trophy match at the Asghar Ali Shah stadium. Batting first, Qasmi CC were bundled out for 146 in 19.4 overs with a whirlwind knock of 89 off 42 balls by Ali. Left-arm spinner Fawad Khan claimed three wickets while Junaid Ilyas picked up two scalps. In reply, Northern Gymkhana fell short despite Ali Asad’s 52-run knock that came off 40 balls with the help of four boundaries. Meanwhile, in the State Life 2nd VFC Trophy, Omar Associates defeated Mohammad Hussain CC by two wickets helped by a 42-run blitz by Sultan Ahmed.
