Fully covered in mud, five boys posed as statues and stood at the Jinnah Hospital Underpass Signal on Canal Road to lodge their protest against the unscheduled prolonged loadshedding. They said they used to bathe in the canals earlier to beat the heat but decided to use this unique way to protest and get their message across.
The boys said that they have no power at home for up to 18 hours a day. They cannot even continue their work as designers since they require the use of computers, working on electricity, to complete their job. Even fasting during Ramazan has become troublesome for these boys.
The unusual protest attracted a large number of onlookers, who took pictures and made videos with their camera enabled cell phones. The crowd caused a heavy traffic jam in the area, bothering those who were trying to get home in time for Iftar.
The mud, unlike electricity, helped these young men beat the heat. They appealed to their fellow countrymen to come forward and hold similar protests against loadshedding.

@Mountie: after amendment in law, provincial govt can go for their own power generating units. they aint sincere, its been 2 n half years aftre amendment n nuthing happned
@Mountie: Dear get your facts straight! Electricity is NOT a solely federal issue NEITHER is the federation solely responsible for it. Under recent amendments undertaken by the parliament, provinces are allocated a hefty amount in their budgets in lieu of energy generation. Its no use bashing the federation alone for a blame that should be shared by all..!!
@Mountie: I can just laugh on your views, I strongly believe punjab govt could have produced electricity if they wanted, but why should they want it? Isn't this their campaign for next election. Secondly leaving electricity what Punjab govt has given us, there are decoits looting the streets and shops, police culture is still the same, doctors are in fight with them, no business growth has been done.
And i past these guys in the evening on canal road, and i must admit for once i thought these are statues, very creative and extremely talented.
well i must say this country has been destroying talent and creativity kinda steps fr years so muddy boys js became a tamasha not a message to govt either federal or punjab.
@romeo. Electricity is a Federal issue. Only they are responsible for building dams. Punjab govt. has been urging federal government for last 4 years to build new dams.
All these credits goes to Punjab Government..........they are busy in stealing the national wealth, they don't have time to look after the welfare of the people and the state. So long the people of Pakistan will cast their vote to all these corrupt people and politicians, they have to suffer like this again and again.
Finally a peaceful protest. No damages to public property. We are evolving in our minds.
Muddy Boys just reach home and then your mothers will give you a good bath with Hawai Chappals and Sticks....
Very creative , I must say
