RAWALPINDI:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz legislator Hanif Abbasi approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Sunday, challenging the Anti-Narcotics Force’s inquiry against him for obtaining ephedrine quota.

The LHC will take up the petition on Monday. The MNA, through his counsel, has challenged the ANF’s proceedings, saying that the agency cannot question him about the allocation of ephedrine quota.

Nominating ANF director general and its Rawalpindi director as respondents, Abbasi said that he obtained 500kg of ephedrine for his pharmaceutical company in 2010, which is in accordance with the law.

The counsel said that the MNA has appeared before the ANF more than once and they haven’t been able to find anything against him.

“Abbasi’s case is different from illegal quota of 9,000kg allotted to two pharmaceutical companies,” he said.
