Revenue Meeting: ‘Tax collection officers to be given incentives’

KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah presided over a meeting of the Sindh Board of Revenue (SBR), at the Chief Minister’s House on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by the SBR chairman, Shaqeeb Qureshi, Sindh Secretary Finance Naveed Kamran Baloch, the principal secretary to the CM, Muhammad Siddique Memon and members of the SBR. The chief minister appreciated the performance of the SBR and said that its target of collecting Rs25 billion in taxes had been achieved during the last financial year.

This year a 28 per cent excess target has been given to the SBR for collection of taxes, said Shah. He added that the present government had not introduced any new tax in the annual budget for the year 2012-13, while the government has pledged to provide relief to the people.

The chief minister assured that the SBR officers would be encouraged and necessary incentives will be given to those who fulfil the requirements and achieve their targets. Those attending the meeting were informed that out of demanded 170 posts, 100 new posts had been approved while the other posts would be sanctioned in due course of time.
