LAHORE: Advocate Jamil Ahmed Rana filed a petition before the Supreme Court Lahore registry on Friday, challenging immunity provided to the president and the prime minister under Article 248 of the Constitution.

“The immunity to the president and the premier is against the tenets of the Quran and Sunnah,” asserted the petitioner in his plea. “Article 248, itself, is based on un-Islamic principles,” the petitioner added.

According to Rana, the provision had been included to protect influential personalities in different cases.
