KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Deputy Convener and federal minister, Dr Farooq Sattar, called the prime minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and told him that traders and businessmen were apprehensive about the increasing cases of extortion, kidnapping, and murder in the city.

He said innocent people were being gunned down on a daily basis in Karachi, creating instability in the country. Dr Sattar added that businessmen were being forced to move their investments to other countries which could cause irreparable damage to the country’s economy.

He demanded that the city should be free from criminals, killers, and extortionists. The prime minister assured Sattar that he would not allow the peace in Karachi to be disturbed, and would soon visit the city to hold meetings in order to bring the situation under control.
