Altaf warns of rogue state status for Pakistan
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain cautioned on Thursday that the security, sovereignty and integrity of the country were under threat.
Talking at the international secretariat of the MQM in London, Altaf said that the US Congress had recently urged the State department to designate the Haqqani network as a terrorist organisation and has demanded action against it from Pakistan. He said that Pakistan could also be declared a terrorist country if any leader of this militant organisation was found involved in any terrorist activity outside Pakistan.
He said that it was highly regrettable that instead of thinking about the survival of the country, politicians were busy in power politics, according to a press release issued here.
He went on to call for an end to clashes between the government, judiciary, military and the opposition.
The MQM chief said militant organisations formed during the Cold War had turned into Frankenstein monsters, and turned against our own army officers and men.
Talking about the media in Pakistan, Altaf regretted that Pakistani politicians, intellectuals, anchor persons and columnists were not informing the public over the real facts regarding the national crisis. He cautioned that most international newspapers and magazines had reported that a number of US war fleets had reached Pakistani waters in the Arabian Sea.
The MQM chief also addressed ‘great’ internal threats being faced by the country. He said politicians were resorting to one-upmanship at a time when the country was mired in inflation, load-shedding, unemployment and poverty.
Altaf advised the MQM leaders, elected representatives and office-bearers to create awareness among Pakistani people and inform them about the difficult circumstances facing the country. Members of the coordination committee, elected representatives, and members of the MQM international secretariat were also present on the occasion.

Mr. Altaf Hussain has expressed so valid concerns regarding the security, sovereignty and integrity of the country that even none of his critics could logically deny them.
Pakistan was about to be declared ROUGE years ago,we are rouge why we cant acept it ! We are not realistic.
I am sure you are may be you don't realize this however what is wrong if you are? Nothing for sure as long as you love Pakistan. The leader should know he can not take two oaths and both demand total commitment and honor, come back home please after all you are politician live with them.
It has been very common in this world that whenever any sincere person tries to lead them to the right way, he is criticized the most. Later on, they realize that they had done something wrong. But, it depends whether they have the time to repent and reform themselves or to just face the negative consequences then. Let us see.. Anyway, hats off to you, Mr. Hussain for your sincerity!

I'm not a muhajir but I think Altaf is better than any other leader in Pakistan. Most of his policies is what we really need in Pakistan. Maybe he's done wrong, but who hasn't? His policies and liberal ideas are the need of the hour! And he is right that Pakistan is moving toward greater problems.

Why to wait for seeing another tragedy like the one took place in 1971? Why not to pay attention to what Mr. Hussain has shared with us? We do not try to closely monitor what is happening in the world outside Pakisitan. It looks as if we are living in a fort built with the material that cannot be destroyed by even the super powers. The fall of Dhaka, presence of Usama in the militarily sensitive area, the operation conducted by the US submarines, the poor performance by the PAF radars, incidents of Mehran Base and the GHQ attack are not sufficient to make us open our eyes? This is not the first time Altaf Hussain warn us about clear present danger. We as patriot Pakistanis should pay attention to Altaf Hussain vision and philosophy.

We have to take his statement very seriously regardless of our any political affiliation. Indeef Afghanistam will be a threat for Pakistan in future. Karzai is a puppet of India and India is waiting for a loose ball. This is the time where all political parties of Pakistan should sit and make our defence and forign pilicies.

Are we ready to face the external threats when our internal stability and security is at stake ? Our failed foreign policies in last 64 years have isolated us from all four corners and now who is the friend of Pakistan ? Extremism and militancy in the shape of Talibanization have entered in the hearts of Pakistani cities. Corruption, incompetency in governance, worst law and order across Pakistan are the signs of major disaster. This is the time for Pakistani rulers to start peace dialogue with all their neighbors including India and Afghanistan and sign no-war pact with them. If we did not change our policies and actions in near future then there is no future for us in the modern and civilized world.
When people like Bush, Clinton, Bin Laden and Nixon can dictate and decide the strategies for Pakistan to follow then why can't Hussain give statements in favor of Pakistan?? We can ignore Altaf Hussain but it will be disaster for us if we ignore what Altaf Hussain says. I found all his points extremely alarming and I like to thank him for raising these challenges to bring awareness for a common man of Pakistan. I agree that every Pakistani must rise above party affiliations and think about the security, integrity and betterment of the country. Our country is facing real challenges and it is time when we put aside our differences and behave like a nation. We are divided in sects, nationalities and bradries and it is true that a nation that is divided in in so many groups cannot stand against any enemy hence the Pakistani nation should exhibit unity instead of getting divided.

If i recall couple of years earlier the same guy pointed out about the existence of Taliban in Karachi and even he stated these guys re-grouping here. And I remember 90% of politicians and people were commenting there is no existence of TALIBAN in Karachi and the statement of Altaf Hussain is more towards ethnic cleansing. But later on it has been proved when the figures confirmed most of the arrests were from Karachi and its suburbs even if you look at the arrests of some of Alqaida militants then you will be surprised again. Now coming back to the recent and above statement that's true the situation is slowly and gradually moving towards it. I request all Pakistanis and politicians of Pakistan to please forget all disputes and at least show some unity for getting out of these kind of threats.
@liberal_pak: A good point you have raised. But rest assured nobody in the media will speak, for obvious reasons. Hypocrisy runs deep in our body politic. Seen from another point of view, Altaf is more a spokesman for some others than for this country. His party has been a part of government for more than a decade now, but he prefers to reside abroad. Don’t take MQM leader Altaf Hussain statement a joke; he is the only informed and bold leader in Pakistan and has a vision to foresee future. Our ancestors created Pakistan and being an honest successor he has done his part to inform Pakistani about the imminent and inevitable dangers. We have to unite and do every possible effort to secure our homeland; just Karachi can’t stop the collapse of Pakistan. Pakistan economy is dying and those who think strong army will undo or hold the collapse, they are day dreaming. Soviet Union and Yugoslavia both have very strong army but they collapsed because of dead economy.

Mr. Altaf Hussain lecture indicates about his concern on the dangerous situation of Pakistan. This is really shame for us that we are careless of this situation and fighting with each other just for nothing. Under this critical situation our first priority should be to save Pakistan. All politicians, media, journalist and anchors, judiciary and military must play a vital role for the saving of Pakistan.

He makes a good point --- the actions of your "strategic assets" reflects directly on Pakistan --- and you no longer have any credibility to deny connections to these "strategic assets". To make matters worse you can't control all the actions of these "strategic assets" so even when they perform things you don't condone your going to get blamed -- it all adds up to an uncertain and perilous policy which may be the downfall of Pakistan.

MQM's Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain makes a lot of sense. While other parties are busy pulling each others legs, here's a leader that is addressing the real issues of Pakistan. If MQM had majority at the national level and had a chance to serve (just like they did with the City District Government of Karachi), Pakistan would be giving aid to countries not taking it. I hope that day comes soon. Ameen!

Before the tragic incident of 911, none of the Pakistanis was not aware of the fact that the military establishment had been involved in the ware of the super powers as a puppet whose consequences the next generation would face. It was the criminal act of the leaders, columnists, intellectuals and the Generals who kept the nation in the complete darkness. The same situation was in 1971 when the fall of Dhaka took place. The common people of the West Pakistan were being informed that the army was marching ahead. But, in contrast to it, about 90,000 soldiers surrendered. Now, we do not want to face any more tragedy at all. Plz take serious notice of what Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his concerns about.

It is obvious that we are in state of vague war but yesterday Altaf Hussain reveal the whole conspiracy going on to destabilize Pakistan.To admit the severity of the situation in all perspective including primarily, law & order, economic crises and integrity should be taken seriously and the grave concerns hovering over the country can be dealt by convening proactive round-table conference in which all segments of the society participate. Our leaders should take this issue as serious as life and death is concern. Our future of our upcoming offspring is on stake. If we don't wake up at instance we will never be able to wake. There is no denying the fact that the very existence of the country is threatened because of internal and external problems. Wrong decisions taken in the past are haunting us today. We supported the United States back in 1970s against Russian and our own country was flooded with klashnikovs and drugs. Extremism promoted under state policy has filled our streets with unending bloodshed and violence. Politicians are as usual busy in power game and corruption has broken all bounds.
The situation is very grim. External forces are conspiring against Pakistan and it is an irony that our leaders look upon them for support and for coming into power. The sovereignty of the country is violated every time a drone crosses our boundary and kills innocent people.
Osama bin Laden was found living safely in the garrison city of Abbottabad and we think we can fool the world. All these situation call for serious thinking and serious decisions. Let everyone rise above petty party politics and get united for saving our beloved homeland. Time is running out fast.
