PPP leaders pour over emerging political scenario

ISLAMABAD: Federal ministers and senior leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party met with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday evening to discuss the emerging political and security situation in the country.

The dinner meeting was attended among others by Speaker National Assembly Faryal Talpur, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Minister for Water and Power Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar, Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan, Minister for Defence Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Advisor to Prime Minister Dr Rehman Malik, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Ch. Imtiaz Safdar Warriach, Senator Jahangir Badar, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Rukhsana Bangash and Fouzia Habib.

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that over all political situation of the country was discussed during the meeting.


The Prime Minister briefed the meeting on the current energy situation and the measures taken to address the power issue. He said that the energy situation was steadily improving and the government was taking all possible steps to address the issue on a priority basis.


The Prime Minister also briefed the meeting about his recent visit to Saudi Arabia and his meetings with the Saudi leadership, entrepreneurs and the Pakistani community there.


Dr Rehman Malik, advisor to Prime minister on interior briefed the meeting on overall law and order situation in the country and the steps afoot to maintain peace and security.
