LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has set up 15 drainage centres and 25 sewerage centres to deal with any emergencies in monsoon season, said a press release. The agency has also formed three mobile units equipped with cranes, dumpers, dewatering sets, muck suckers and jetting units – to handle flooding situations in any areas. Three hundred and thirty dewatering sets have been sent to substations after being checked and repaired. These stations are located in low-lying areas selected by social and political representatives, said the WASA press release. WASA Managing Director Mian Abdullah has instructed directors, executive engineers, sub divisional officers and operations staff to keep there mobile phones on 24 hours a day. Any officer found negligent would be punished, he said.
