"The DRS is an effective tool to rectify any umpiring errors which mean a lot during tight and close matches," Misbah told reporters after returning home on Saturday following test and one-day series defeats in Sri Lanka.
"The ICC and cricket boards must work towards a unified DRS system for world cricket." Pakistan complained about poor umpiring decisions during the first test against Sri Lanka in Galle which they lost heavily.
The Sri Lankan cricket board did not use the DRS for the series against Pakistan although it did do so in matches against England this year.
A Pakistan Cricket Board official said it was trying to secure sponsorship for using the DRS in the upcoming one-day series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.
"We believe it is a technology which is good for cricket and helps both teams that is why we will keep on supporting its use," the official said.
The International Cricket Council decided against making the use of DRS mandatory, leaving it up to individual boards to decide when to use the technology.

@Hasan Mehmood: when did i say that it is biased against a particular country...........what i am saying u cannot replace human flaws with technology flaws..........as regards to tendulkar dismissal this infact underlines BCCI Point.....as regards to power if u have earned power u better use it........india has earned this power after years of western bullying.......if we don't use our power cricket will become another hockey were rules were changed to suite european style of hockey.........this is not a pak-india thing.........right to diagree is fundamental
@salim: You have consistently failed to answer my question. How can an eloctronic system be biased against a particular country. You gave one example of flawed DRS decision. What about half a dozen flawed umpiring decisions which cost Pakistan the series. Please take back your DRS review of TANDULKAR 'S dismissal in Word Cup Semi final (against Saeed Ajmal) with retroactive effect.
You consider yourself the ultimate judge of DRS system and consider the rest of the cricketing world as idiots. If that's not arrogance, what do u call it? Let's face it you have made it an issue of ego based on your mighty clout in ICC. Let me ask you if instead of INDIA, it was Bangladesh trying to stonewall DRS and all other countries including INDIA supporting DRS, would you let Bangladesh get away with it ?
Please dont waste your time in defending the indefencible. India is otherwise a great cricketing nation and a major contributor to its global image / revenue.
@Hasan Mehmood: arrogance!!!!!!If standing for what u think is arrogance; we are arrogant.........in fact DRS creates confusion rather than solving.......in the ODI series VS ENGLAND Rahul Dravid was given out....DRS was in place.....he did are review the replay showed the ball did touch the bat but the hot spot didnot.dravid mentioned it the press briefing......i can give u many such examples. if u want to adopt a flawed system u are welcome to do that........if everyone jumps in the well we are not bound to jump into that..........as for sympathy the sri lankan board runs on soft loans from BCCI.....
@salim: You have completely gone off a tangent. My point was based on principle and not affordability. Surely unlike Sri Lanka, Indian Board has no financial issue. So please answer my question : How can a software / machine effect India much more adversely and the real / imagined ill effects are not felt by other boards. Mind you, Indian objections are not based on sympathy for poor cricket boards. It can only be termed as sheer arrogance.
@Hasan Mehmood: forget India why there was no DRS in pak sri lanka series?????????????because no money........so keep quiet 1st pay then say!!!!!!!!!!!
First pay salaries to your player than talk about DRS
@Hasan Mehmood: India in cricket is the judge, jury and the executioner. If they say no to DRS then all the remaining 9 test playing countries have to accept it. Without their financial muscle - they contribute 80% of global cricket earnings - cricket will die. Pakistan's focus should be to allow India play them. That I suspect will not be possible until security improves in Pakistan. The lawlessness in Pakistan is such that it will take another 50 years to bring law and order. The mullahs run the agenda.
The DRS technology may not be perfect and it may sometimes result in error. But how come it only effects Indians and all other cricket boards have no objections. Even if DRS cannot avoid all umpiring errors, it does reduce them considerably. How come the shortcomings of DRS are only visible to only one out of 10 boards. Surely DRS software cannot be programmed to differentiate between matches involving INDIANS and those without INDIANS. In any case INDIA should not be allowed to veto DRS in the interest of across the board uniformity.
