MOSCOW: Former England manager Fabio Capello has opened talks with the Russian football federation over their vacant national team manager position, Russia’s sports minister has confirmed. The Italian has flown to Moscow to discuss terms, after Dick Advocaat had resigned to coach PSV in the Dutch league. “Russian Football Union officials received Capello today,” said sports minister Vitaly Mutko. “They conducted negotiations. I think that over the course of a week all the consultations with the managers on our list will be held.” Mutko, however, thinks that Capello would be a good fit. “Capello would be a good option for Russia. He knows how to win. You only have to look at his record.”
