ISLAMABAD: Traders in Blue Area blocked the Jinnah Avenue near the 7th Avenue underpass on Wednesday to protest against police’s failure to recover a kidnapped colleague. The avenue remained closed for about an hour and the traffic was redirected to adjacent roads. The commercial hub was partially shut down for an hour as traders came out to protest on the call of Traders Welfare Association Blue Area. They also demanded the police and the city administration expedite efforts for the release of the kidnapped trader, who was taken a month back. The protestors condemned the lack of security arrangements for them and their businesses. They dispersed after assurances from the police that they will “quickly recover” the trader.
