KARACHI: The Pakistan Wushu Federation (PWF) is confident that an eight-member squad will be able to take part in the team’s first international assignment of the year despite a delay by the country’s sports board in issuing NOCs.

The team is due to take part in the Pars Cup Wushu Championship, scheduled to start tomorrow in Zanjan, Iran, but is yet to receive the NOC from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). According to PWF Secretary Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, arrangements have been finalised.

“Our players have been preparing for the event for a month,” Ahmed told The Express Tribune. “But without the NOCs, we can’t be sure. If we decide to go ahead with our plan we’ll violate the PSB’s code since each federation has to get a NOC before any tour. Our participation in Iran would be a big step since 30 countries are featuring in the championship.

“But the PSB has developed a habit of issuing NOCs very late. So I’m confident that we’ll get the NOC.”
