Teacher torture: Madhiana’s bail plea accepted

Madhiana, hospitalised for several days at Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore, will be examined by doctors

SARGODHA: Former member of Punjab Assembly Aslam Madhiana’s application for bail in a torture case was accepted by a court on Monday. However, his application for bail in another case, accusing him of beating the counsel of the school teacher, was rejected because there had been no arrest in the matter. Madhiana, hospitalised for several days at Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore, will be examined by doctors on on Tuesday (today) to decide whether or not he could be sent back with Sargodha police to attend a court hearing in a timber theft case. He was taken to the hospital on suffering angina during during his detention at a police station in Sargodha. The examination has been scheduled on police’s request whose plea for extension in Madhiana’s remand was rejected by a Bhalwal civil court on Monday. The judge asked the police to first produce the former MPA, accused in 28 cases, before him.
