Following a life ban by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Integrity Committee also imposed a ban on leg-spinner Danish Kaneria from all cricketing activities until his appeal against the sentence is heard.
According to a PCB statement, the committee met last week under the board’s chairman Zaka Ashraf and discussed Kaneria’s case before deciding to ‘respect and enforce’ the ban by ECB’s Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) as per the International Cricket Council’s and PCB’s corruption codes.
“Kaneria will not be eligible to play any cricket match or participate in any cricket activity in Pakistan,” read the PCB statement.
The leg-spinner’s case with the integrity committee was pending after the body denied clearance to the cricketer which has barred his selection in the national team since 2010. He also challenged the PCB at the Sindh High Court to get his name cleared from all wrongdoings.
