Police officials, speaking to The Express Tribune, said that a bomb had been planted outside the house of Haji Anwar, a businessman from Mohmand Agency. Anwar had been receiving threats from militants who had been demanding money from him.
The bomb had been spotted by the owner of the house and he had informed the police about it.
“It was an 8 kilogramme pressure cooker bomb which had been planted near the house, barley 100 feet away from the UNHCR store which was gutted by a fire,” said SHO Haji Inayat, adding that the Bomb Disposal Unit had defused the device successfully.
