Preparations: 26 Ramazan Bazaars to be set up in the city

DCO said more than 250 dastarkhawans (free food outlets) would be set up across the city.

As many as 26 Ramazan Bazaars will be set up in the city in the month of Ramazan. This was announced by District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Friday. He was presiding over a meeting on Ramazan Contingency Plan 2012 at the Town Hall. The DCO said that providing essential items at fair prices was one of the Punjab government’s priorities. He said more than 250 dastarkhawans (free food outlets) would be set up across the city. Subsidised wheat flour and sugar will be available at 616 shops. He said special staff would distribute iftar packets among those travelling at the time of iftar. He directed market committee staff to ensure that quality of vegetables and fruits in the Ramazan Bazaars was maintained. He also directed the officials concerned to ensure that meat at all stalls was properly covered. He also showed interest in talking to the stall manufacturers to obtain stalls at factory rates.
