ISLAMABAD:

Bahria Town’s former chairman Malik Riaz, in a petition filed in the Supreme Court, has requested the apex court to ensure that law enforcement agencies do not “victimise” him.

The real estate magnate contended: “I very humbly want to bring to the notice of this Honourable Court the victimisation being made by the lower judiciary against me.”

Giving instances of mistreatment by the lower courts, Riaz said that he had been falsely involved in a case registered with ACE in 2009 through a notification issued on the directives of the Anti-Corruption Establishment.

“But the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Provincial Rawalpindi... contrary to the orders passed by the Honourable Divisional Bench of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench issued my non-bailable warrants of arrest as well as of my son without any lawful justification,” the petition stated.

Riaz said that the issuance of the warrants against him were an attempt to “deprive me from appearing before this Honourable Court on June 28, to solicit my innocence and to plead my case”.

Adding that the Supreme Court was his last ray of hope for justice, he appealed to the court to provide him and his family adequate security till the inquiry in Dr Arsalan Iftikhar’s case is completed.

He also urged the apex court to ensure no prejudice in the lower courts in the rest of the cases against Bahria Town.
