Water and Sanitation: Survey to gather data from Monday

FAISALABAD:

The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) will kick off a household survey in the city on Monday to gather data about its services.

The survey findings will be used to improve service delivery, said a statement issued on Friday.

The survey will initially be started in two areas, Sarfraz Colony and Tariqabad, by teams consisting of students of the Mass Communication Department of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF). The teams will interview at least 2,000 households in these areas.

Some of the questions in the survey are about the quality of tap water and sanitation infrastructure. The teams will also gather citizens’ complaints about Wasa’s services and whether or not any action is taken on complaints lodged with the Wasa. The survey teams will also collect water samples to check if there were any areas where water supply was contaminated by sewage water.

The survey is being carried out with World Bank’s assistance.

A training session was arranged for more than 40 GCUF students selected to carry out the survey in the city on Friday.

The participants were briefed about the objectives of the survey and the procedures to follow by Anjum Nida Rehman.
