The general body of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Associations (FAPUASA) had set June 30 as deadline for the federal government to release funds worth Rs6 billion for the (HEC). They had threatened to launch countrywide agitation if the government failed to fulfill their demands.
FAPUASA had also observed a Black Day on Monday.
A total of Rs12 billion were not released during the fiscal year 2011-12 – Rs6 billion which were meant for development and another Rs6 billion for recurring expenditures. For the fiscal year 2012-2013, Rs10 billion less than HEC’s demand were allocated to the commission.

I heard the Min of Finance has released only Rs 2 billion on the PM instructions. Hopefully the HEC will get Rs 6 billion it was promised......, much to the chagin of the president I am sure.
Trying to win votes, thats all. Zardari playing a great game of chess!
Finally something good done by this govt
The best raja would have ever done!
Allah khair keray...this sounds like a good decision.
First thing your accused Prime Minister did was construction of a Hellipad in his village house so that he can commute to the NA without guards and protocol. Why should they worry about education? Why NAB has included the name of Prime Minister in the ECL?
Though a bit late, this is a good step on part of new PM. Please don't let such situation repeat in future.
Good decision Mr. PM! We support you!
The HEC should be audited. They have very high expenses for IT equipments that are purchased in cahoots with international vendor suppliers. Same things with the PERN project which has been total flop by HEC. I would not like my tax money to be given to organizations that will waste it.
I only support HEC scholarship program for qualified Pakistanis to study abroad.
It seems the new PM is not devoid of positive intent as his predecessor.
For God's good sake, please spend less on your luxuries and allocate much more of this sector. Your helipad is not going to do any favour to this country but few more students with quality education surely will.
