NEPRA ups power tariff by Rs1.51 per unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has raised the power tariff by Rs1.51 per unit on account of fuel adjustment for the month of May 2012, Express News reported on Wednesday.

The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) had proposed an increase of Rs 1.52 per unit in power tariff.

The Ministry of Power and Electricity considered that the hike in power tariff was “urgent” owing to the expensive equipment used in power generation.

The tariff will be applicable from December 2012.

Well actually they don't want us to get used to having electricity .. So even if it is not gone we might end up assuming it . This all make sense ( May be )

So the subsidies given to power sector were meant to support the mismanaged and corrupt power sector organizations?
