MIRPUR:

A majority of mobile vans of the Mirpur City Police sanctioned for police posts are out of order due to non-maintenance, it has been learnt.

An official of the Mirpur City Police, requesting anonymity, confirmed that six mobile vans for police beats are lying out of order. He said that the concerned police authorities have been informed about the condition of the vehicles, and have sought funds for their maintenance. He added the vans will be functional once the required funds are provided for their repairs.

Due to unavailability of the police vans, routine patrolling especially during the night has been affected. According to social and political quarters, street crimes have increased during the night as a result.

They have demanded of the higher police authorities, including the Inspector General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police, to take notice of the situation and resolve the issue on a priority.
