DUBAI:
This is with reference to Basil Nabi Malik’s article of August 16. The so-called democratic government in Pakistan is actually not democratic. Democracy is there when leaders are from the people and elected by the people. Unfortunately, in the case of Pakistan politics, most of those who come into power are tribal leaders of their area and people have no choice but to vote for them. Adding to the misery of the situation is poverty and lack of education which is never given priority by any government because they know that if they don’t restrict the mental awareness of people these people will stand up and spit on the politicians faces.
