MIRPUR:

Participants of an awareness walk on Monday called for both individual and collective efforts to promote a healthy environment. Mostly women civil society members, lawyers, journalists, teachers, students and officials of the district administration walked through the capital city of Muzaffarabad, urging the people to take necessary steps to counter environmental pollution.

Holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans on environmental protection, the participants stressed the need for every individual of the society, and law-enforcing agencies in particular, to fight against environmental pollution.

The walk was organised by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with the Muzaffarabad Municipal Corporation and Environmental Foundation, a non-governmental organisation. The volunteers of the NGO cleaned the city streets by removing the roadside filth heaps in bags.
