Dejected: Woman commits suicide

GILGIT: A woman committed suicide over being denied meeting her children. She jumped into a river near Chathorkhand of Ghizer district, some 150 kilometres from Gilgit, a police official told The Express Tribune on Sunday. Official sources said that the woman had gotten married to Ali Murad and had two children, after which he had married another woman. This infuriated her and she went to live with her father, leaving her children behind. However, on Saturday, she wanted to see her children but her father refused to allow her to do so. Frustrated over the decision, she jumped into a nearby river in the presence of her father. The locals said that her body was recovered from some distant downstream. Police have registered a case against her father and husband.
