Water dispute: One killed, four injured

after two groups clashed over a water dispute

GILGIT: One person was killed while four others sustained wounds after two groups clashed over a water dispute, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred late on Saturday night at Chilmisdas, about 20 kilometres from Gilgit. The police said that the two groups had a dispute over the distribution of irrigation water for their lands. In the dark of the night, a group of armed men opened fire on the people of their rival group coming out of a mosque after saying Isha prayers. The injured were taken to a hospital. Police have registered a case.
