‘Honour’ Crime: Girl killed over marriage row

The body has been sent for an autopsy and investigations started in the incident.

FAISALABAD: A woman was shot and killed allegedly by her brother late night on Friday for her refusal to marry a man her family had chosen for her. Toba Tek Singh Saddar police identified the deceased as Shamim Hussain, a resident of ChakNo321-JB Sewwal. The FIR registered on a complaint filed by Khadim Husain, father of the deceased, stated that she was shot in her sleep by her brother Muhammad Sajid. The suspect later fled the scene. The FIR said that the family had wanted the deceased to marry one of her relatives but she refused to do so. On Friday night, it said, she was shot by her brother. The body has been sent for an autopsy and investigations started in the incident.
