Kamaliya power protests: ‘Attack on house should be investigated’

PML-Q lawmaker alleged that brother of Justice (retd) Khalilur Rehman Ramday had been the architect of the plot.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MNA Riaz Fatyana demanded action on Friday against miscreants involved in the attack on his residence in Kamaliya.

“The attack at my house was the result of a well-conceived conspiracy. I had already informed the local police that some elements wanted to assassinate me,” he said, while talking to media outside parliament. The PML-Q lawmaker also alleged that the brother of Justice (retd) Khalilur Rehman Ramday had been the architect of the plot.

“I am not blaming Justice (retd) Ramday. He is above such things. But the activities of his brother are defaming his reputation,” he said. On June 19, a protest against repeated power outages had ended peacefully in Kamaliya, but around 200 demonstrators later attacked Fatyana’s house.

He also expressed grief at the death of a boy, who had been killed in the riots, and demanded that those involved in his killing should be brought to justice.
