HYDERABAD:

An elderly man allegedly stabbed his wife and two daughters to death in Aalam Zardari village in Sanghar district on Friday. He later set his house on fire and consequently five other houses in the neighbourhood also caught fire. But fortunately no one was harmed.

The man, S B, in his early 50s, also injured himself by cutting his wrist. The victims include his wife, Khairan Bibi, his daughters, Khatoon Bibi, 18, and Lali Bibi, 22. Khairan was his second wife while the slain daughters were from the first wife who had passed away many years ago. Lund SHO Mehboob Dars told The Express Tribune that the initial investigation suggested that some family dispute was the reason behind the killings.

S B’s son-in-law, Meeran Baksh Marri, said that S B suffered from a mental illness and his act was not motivated by ‘honour killing’ or any family dispute. However, Marri denied that B suffered from any mental illness. “We have arrested him while other family members will also be interrogated.”
