LONDON:

It’s time for the British royal family and other aristocrats to attend Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot, an annual horse race that lasts a week at the Ascot Racecourses in England — one of the most famous racecourses in the world.

According to custom, women wear day dresses with hats and this year is certainly no different. Waterproof accessories were the theme of the day along with the typically ambitious and outlandish hats. Forget the clothes, here are our picks for the most eye-catching head gear from the Ascot Racecourse.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth arrived for the race in a mint-coloured hat trimmed with white tulle and purple feathers. She looked elegant as ever in her pristine white gloves and black patent leather bag. Royal watchers will also recognise her familiar diamond brooch.
