LAHORE:

Doctors continued their boycott of outpatient departments at public hospitals in the city and much of the rest of the province on the call of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) for a fourth day on Thursday.

YDA spokesman Dr Salman Kazmi said that talks between YDA officials and Health Department officials scheduled for Thursday had been put off by the department.

He said that they had met five times so far and he had seen little prospect of a successful conclusion so far. He said the strike would continue until the government accepted the doctors’ demand for a revised service structure including improved allowances, raises in the stipends of house officers and postgraduate trainees and various administrative changes.
