Missing persons: File case against agencies involved in disappearances, says SC

The agencies’ helplessness in recovering missing persons is beyond our understanding, says short order.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court, in its short order pertaining to the Balochistan missing persons cases, ordered for the recovery of 93 people who were still missing and ordered for a case to be registered against agencies accused of being involved in this matter, Express News reported on Wednesday.

“Protecting the people and their property is the state’s responsibility,” said the court in its short order.

“The agencies’ helplessness in recovering missing persons is beyond our understanding.”

The short order further said that the Frontier Corps (FC) was being accused of abducting people and directed the defense secretary to sit the agencies down in his office and solve the matter, FC is being accused of abducting people.

Earlier, the Supreme Court summoned the interior and defence secretaries and FC commander Major General Obaidullah Khattak along with other stakeholders to appear before a three-judge bench on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Ifthikar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered the registrar to cancel all other cases for Wednesday to hear the Balochistan case at length.

Topi drama of the SC. Why cant they summon the generals? They uphold law and constitution only when it comes to the civilians. Never said no to military coups in our entire history. CJ was about to summon army chief a day before arslan iftikhar case, what happened now? Just talk and no action. So sick of it
