MQM accepts apex court verdict
Meeting unanimously observes that MQM believes in independence of judiciary and regards it with dignity.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s Coordination Committee, in its reaction to Yousaf Raza Gilani’s disqualification as prime minister by the Supreme Court, said that it accepts the ruling.
The MQM Coordination Committee held emergency meetings in London and Karachi following the apex court verdict.
“The meeting unanimously observed that the MQM believes in the independence of judiciary and regards it with dignity,” according to a statement issued from MQM Secretariat in London.
“The MQM is a democratic party and believes that the democratic process must continue in the country under all conditions. Confrontation between the institutions should be avoided at every cost as the policy of confrontation would not be in the interest of the country,” it added.
