Desecrating Quran: Mob attacks police station to lynch accused man
A police station in central part of the city was attacked by an angry mob on Sunday that tried to break into the lockups to kill a blasphemy accused.
The Taimuria Police Station in North Nazimabad became a warzone when it arrested and booked a man under section 295(b) on accusation of desecrating a copy of Holy Quran.
“Some area people had complained about it and we had taken the man into custody,” said a police official.
“Then slowly people started gathering outside and it turned into a crowd. The screaming mob was demanding of us to hand over the accused to them.”
Police claim to have recovered some drugs from his possession as well. As police resisted, the mob turned violent and barged into the police station, breaking furniture and beating at least one policeman.
Backup support was called from different police stations and rangers, which arrived and tried to control the crowd. Police had to use tear gas and baton charge to disperse the crowd.
The situation was still tense till filing of this report.

And when moderate religious leaders / followers fail to speak out against extreme actions like this, the extremists see this as tacit approval of their actions. That is the problem. How often, if ever, do religious leaders criticise their own followers? Those who stay silent are as much to blame as the the extremists.
@Dark Knight: You can't blame the whole religion if certain extremist elements are misrepresting a faith.
Blasphemy or Galatphemy
Is there any law in Pakistan against those who damage property and threat to the life of a person, right in the police station?
Drugged crowds tried to lynch a drug addict. It is obvious that religion is the biggest opium of people. -Mao, idol of mentors of Pakistan.
Religion is Pakistan's downfall.
This drug addict criminal should be punished according to the law...give him an exemplary sentence that will teach him and his type a lesson forever...people only take the law in their hands when the law enforcement agencies do not provide justice..

So where are those mullahs who were telling us about the virtues of Blasphemy law, and how it prevented violence in the society?

It is a sad to see the headline but what is more pathetic is the fact that the police actually arrested a drug addict and levied charges. The fanaticism of Pakistanis and illiterate people can also be seen first hand through the violent acts of mobs and people gathered to kill a drug addict who has no sane idea as to what he is doing or what is happening around him. Put simply, he is in a LOST WORLD.
