Plain clothes policemen with the authority to shoot criminals on sight will be deployed at markets and parks to control the rising incidents of snatching of vehicles, cell phones and kidnappings for ransom in the city. Acting Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh briefed the media on Sunday on the current law and order situation of the city and the future plans to make policing more effective. SSPs were ordered to visit the crimes scene immediately. As a safety measure against extortion and kidnapping of traders, the businessmen would be issued weapon licences.
